Most students make mistakes in Maths. Not just writing the wrong number or writing a negative sign instead of a positive sign. They make mistakes in the way they do Maths. These mistakes make Maths harder for them to do.
Here’s the first mistake of the top 10 mistakes students make in Maths and how to avoid them.
Not Being Organised
Was your folder tidy and organised at the start of the year and now it is dis-organised? Not being organised is one of the main things that will stop you from succeeding in Maths.
If you can’t find things in your folder then you’ll waste a lot of time trying to find them. It will also make studying for a Maths test harder because you’ll have to spend time looking for the sheets or the work you’ve done – or think you’ve done.
Keep Things In Order
Maths is learnt in a certain order so it’s best to keep all written work and handout sheets in the same order. Tidying up a messy folder will make it really easy for you to find work that you’ve done and will save you a lot of time.
Once things are in the right order it will take a load of your mind. You’ll find things more easily and in less time. You’ll be able to get through your work quicker – as long as you know how to do it. If you don’t know how to do it then at least everything will still be neat and tidy for when you do.
Keep Your Work In A Folder
I recommend a 3 or 4 ring binder for keeping your work in, and plastic slips to put sheets and handouts in. Then your work can easily be kept in the correct order. You’ll know that you can easily find any work you’ve done. Then you can go over it again when it’s time to start studying for a test or exam.
So a good first step if your folder is messy is to get it organised as soon as you can. It can be a big job and may take you some time and effort to put things in order depending on how dis-organised it is.
The most important thing here is that your work is in the correct order.
